Haryana Electricity Scheme: The issue of outstanding electricity bills was raised in the budget session of Haryana Assembly. Chief Minister Nayab Saini said that a new scheme will be brought for those villages which are still not included in the ‘Mhara Gaon- Jagmag Gaon’ scheme. He told that currently 5,800 villages are getting 24-hour electricity supply under this scheme. Under this scheme, payment of outstanding electricity bills is mandatory.
The government will give discount on payment of outstanding electricity bills
The Chief Minister indicated in the Assembly that a scheme for settlement of outstanding bills can be brought to include the rest of the villages in this scheme. Let us tell you that Congress MLA Jassi Petwar from Narnaund assembly constituency had raised the issue of electricity department sending bills worth lakhs of rupees to the houses of poor people, in response to which the Chief Minister has given this information.
CM Nayab Saini said that there are 55 villages in Narnaund constituency. Not a single village among these is included in the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme. The people of these villages have not deposited their outstanding electricity bill amount. These villages have electricity bills worth Rs 388.37 crore pending. The Chief Minister said that if the MLAs motivate the people to pay the outstanding bills, then we will bring a scheme for these outstanding electricity bills and people will be given a discount in it.
Recalculation done
Haryana CM said that as far as the flaws in electricity bills are concerned, in some cases the meters get damaged and it is not reported to the electricity office. The matter of two electricity consumers of Madanheri village was specially raised by MLA Jassi Petwar. Due to the meters of both of them being damaged, the bill was made on an average basis. The bill was recalculated and now their average monthly bill for 7 years 4 months has come to Rs 1255.
The other had a higher bill due to wrong meter reading. After investigation, now the average monthly bill for 11 years 8 months has come to Rs 827.
