According to reports, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has already prepared the blueprint for this scheme. Discussions are underway with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to make this facility a reality. If everything goes as planned, this feature may be available on the UPI platform within the next 2-3 months.

PF Withdrawal Will Be Faster and Easier

With the integration of UPI, EPFO members will soon be able to receive their claimed amount directly into their digital wallets. This will make the withdrawal process much faster and simpler. The executive committee of the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of EPFO has approved the plan to link the retirement fund body with the Unified Payment Interface (UPI).

UPI-Based PF Withdrawal Framework

According to official sources, the committee was briefed about the new framework in a meeting held earlier this week. Under this plan, subscribers will be able to withdraw their PF money directly through UPI platforms. On Friday, the CBT may also approve this framework officially.

As per a report in Financial Express, an official revealed that this facility could start by the end of April or early May. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is reviewing the technical aspects but is ready to implement the plan.

Benefits of PF Withdrawal via UPI

  • Quick Access to Savings: With UPI integration, members will be able to withdraw their PF savings instantly, especially benefiting those in remote areas.
  • Faster Processing Time: The current PF withdrawal process, which takes about 7 days, can be completed in just a few hours or even minutes after the UPI feature is introduced.
  • Reduced Claim Rejection: This system will enhance transparency and reduce errors, minimizing the chances of claim rejections.

ATM Facility for PF Withdrawal

Under the EPFO 3.0 program, members will also be able to withdraw PF money through ATMs. This will eliminate long processes, making it possible to access PF funds immediately.

How Will EPFO ATM Work?

The EPFO ATM card will function like a regular debit card. Users will need to link their UAN, verify their OTP, and withdraw cash directly. This eliminates the need for employer approval, ensuring quick access to funds.

Conditions for PF Withdrawal

Medical Emergencies: Members can withdraw money for the treatment of themselves, their spouse, parents, or children. The withdrawal amount can be up to 6 times the monthly salary or their contribution with interest, whichever is less.

  1. Buying or Building a House: After 5 years of service, up to 90% of the EPF balance can be withdrawn.
  2. Home Renovation: After 5 years of house construction, up to 12 times the monthly salary can be withdrawn for repairs.
  3. Loan Repayment: After completing 3 years of service, 90% of the EPF balance can be used to repay home loans.
  4. Marriage Expenses: Members with 7 years of service can withdraw up to 50% of their contribution and interest for their own, siblings’, or children’s weddings.

Use Your PF Savings Wisely

While EPF withdrawal is becoming more accessible, it’s important to remember that this money is meant to secure your retirement. Withdraw funds only when necessary and ensure you are aware of the terms and required documents beforehand.
