West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Lakshmi Bhandar scheme provides financial assistance to lakhs of women in the state. Under this scheme, Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,200 are directly transferred to their bank accounts every month. However, new rules will be introduced this time. From April 1, 2025, changes in the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme may lead to many women losing their benefits. In this article, we will share all the updates on who will no longer receive benefits and other important details.
What Does the New Rule Say?
According to the new rules of the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme, if your bank account is not linked to your Aadhaar card or your KYC is not updated, you will no longer receive the allowance. Therefore, linking your Aadhaar card to your bank account is mandatory. Additionally, KYC must be updated at the bank.
The government has stated that the main purpose of this change is to verify the correct information about allowance recipients and ensure that the benefits reach eligible beneficiaries.
Why Is This Change Being Made?
The state government has introduced this change to maintain transparency in the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme. It has been observed that money from the scheme is sometimes withdrawn through fake accounts or with incorrect information. To prevent this, the government has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar cards and update KYC, ensuring that only the right recipients receive the allowance.
