Hardik Pandya Set for Record-Breaking Century, Poised to Surpass Bumrah in Indian Cricket History

After playing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the Indian team will now play a five-match T20 series followed by a three-match ODI series against England at home. The T20 series will start on January 22, with Suryakumar Yadav leading Team India, and Akshar Patel taking on the role of vice-captain. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is also part of the Indian squad. Hardik has the chance to score a unique century in the series against England, making him the first Indian all-rounder to achieve this feat. Let’s take a look at the big record Hardik can set against England.

Pandya Close to Hitting 100 T20I Sixes

Hardik Pandya is known for his explosive batting in T20 cricket, and he has already hit more than 100 sixes in the IPL. Now, he is close to reaching 100 sixes in International T20s. So far, in 109 T20 matches, the Indian all-rounder has scored 1700 runs in 85 innings, with a highest score of 71 runs. He has hit 129 fours and 88 sixes in this format. Pandya is just 12 sixes away from the milestone of 100 T20I sixes. It’s expected that he will achieve this feat in the upcoming five-match T20 series against England. If he does, he will become the first Indian all-rounder to hit 100 T20I sixes.

Other Indian Players with 100+ T20I Sixes

The record of hitting 100 or more sixes in T20 Internationals has already been achieved by legendary batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit has hit 205 sixes in 159 T20 matches, Virat has hit 124 in 125 matches, and Suryakumar has hit 145 sixes in 78 T20s. However, it’s important to note that all three are legendary batsmen, while Hardik plays the role of an all-rounder.

Hardik Pandya Can Overtake Jasprit Bumrah

The Star All-rounder now has a chance to overtake Jasprit Bumrah in T20I wickets, as both currently have the same number of wickets. Jasprit Bumrah has taken 89 wickets in just 70 T20I matches, while Hardik Pandya has taken 89 wickets in 109 matches. With just one more wicket, Hardik will surpass Bumrah’s tally. Since Bumrah is not part of this series and Hardik is playing, this presents a great opportunity for him to take the lead.

India-England T20 Series Schedule:

First T20: January 22, Kolkata, 7 pm
Second T20: January 25, Chennai, 7 pm
Third T20: January 28, Rajkot, 7 pm
Fourth T20: January 31, Pune, 7 pm
