2027 Tata Nexon and Avinya X SUVs: Tata Motors is set to expand its SUV portfolio significantly in the near future. In 2027, the company may place major bets on two distinct segments: the volume-focused Next-Gen Tata Nexon and the Tata Avinya X, aimed at the premium electric segment. The next-gen Tata Nexon is expected to feature the new ATLAS platform, a more practical cabin, and an updated design.
Meanwhile, the Tata Avinya X is likely to offer an 800V architecture, dual-motor AWD, and a range exceeding 500 km in the premium EV segment. The company is also preparing to launch the 7-seater Safari EV, which is expected to arrive around October-November 2026.

Tata Avinya X
The Tata Avinya X will be a premium luxury electric SUV/crossover, positioned above Tata’s current mass-market EV models. Its standout feature will be its platform; the Avinya X is expected to be based on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). This architecture incorporates technologies such as structural battery integration, 800V ultra-fast charging, and a flat-floor skateboard layout.
In terms of performance, the Avinya X is expected to feature a dual-motor AWD setup. Its driving range could exceed 500 km on a single full charge. However, official details regarding the final battery capacity, exact range, and performance figures have not yet been revealed.
Minimalist Cabin
The cabin of the Avinya X is also expected to reflect its premium positioning. It may feature a minimalist dashboard layout, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital driver’s display. Additionally, the design could include advanced features such as an AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display).

To enhance the luxury experience, the vehicle is expected to offer lounge-style seats, a premium sound system, and headrest speakers. Regarding autonomous driving technology, it is expected to come with Level 2+ capabilities.
Next-Gen Tata Nexon
Meanwhile, Tata Motors is working on the next generation of the Nexon, one of its most important compact SUVs. The next-gen Nexon is currently being referred to by the codename ‘Garud’ and is expected to launch in 2027.
The new Nexon is expected to be built on Tata’s modular ATLAS (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform—the same architecture used for the Tata Curvv. This platform is expected to provide the new Nexon with improved crash safety, increased legroom for rear passengers, and a cloud-connected electrical and electronics architecture.
Design of the New Nexon
In terms of design, the new generation is expected to feature updates such as split-LED lighting, a sharper tailgate, and a revised glasshouse. Since the Tata Nexon is already a city-friendly SUV due to its compact dimensions, the company might aim to increase cabin space and give the vehicle a more mature road presence through a boxier design.
Engine
Regarding the powertrain, the next-gen Nexon is expected to retain updated versions of the current 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines. Additionally, Tata may offer an option featuring its Twin-Cylinder iCNG technology.
This would help make the Nexon versatile enough to cater to customers with varying fuel requirements. Petrol engines could suit buyers who engage in mixed city and highway driving, while diesel and CNG options could address different usage needs.
