2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift: The wait for the new facelift of the Mahindra Thar 3-door is nearing its end. The company has released the first official teaser for the 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift, offering a glimpse of its updated front grille and robust off-road character. The new Thar is set to launch on September 22 and is expected to feature a design inspired by the Thar Roxx, along with several new features. Let’s take a look at the full details.
New Front Grille Design
It is worth noting that the initial teaser does not reveal the entire front profile of the Thar Facelift. The image shows a mud-splattered front grille featuring vertical openings with mesh inserts. The ‘Mahindra’ lettering is also visible above the grille. Accompanying the teaser, the company wrote, “Coming soon to a rearview mirror near you.”
New Look
The most significant change in the 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift is likely to be in its front design. Recent sightings of test mules and spy shots revealed a revised grille alongside circular projector LED headlights. These are expected to incorporate C-shaped LED DRLs, drawing inspiration from the larger Thar Roxx.

Additionally, the front bumper may feature a new design. Changes to the fog lamps are anticipated, and test vehicles have been spotted with a different alloy wheel design. However, the SUV is expected to retain its familiar 3-door silhouette. Elements such as the tailgate-mounted spare wheel and split rear opening are likely to carry over.
2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift Cabin
Regarding the interior, reports and observations from test runs suggest the inclusion of features like a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror. Upgrades could also include a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats.
However, Mahindra has not yet officially confirmed these features. At this stage, talk of Level-2 ADAS remains speculative, too. If the Thar 3-door receives cabin equipment that is more premium—akin to that of the Thar Roxx—this facelift could make the SUV significantly more comfortable for daily driving.

Petrol and Diesel Engines
Regarding the engine, the 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift is expected to retain the current powertrain lineup. This may include 1.5-litre turbo diesel, 2.0-litre turbo petrol, and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine options.
The smaller diesel engine is expected to continue with a manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive setup. Meanwhile, the larger petrol and diesel engines are expected to feature a four-wheel-drive configuration along with both manual and automatic transmission options.
2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift Price
As for pricing, the ex-showroom price of the current Mahindra Thar 3-door ranges from approximately ₹10.32 lakh to ₹18 lakh. The price of the facelift version is expected to increase due to the addition of a new design and extra features.
