Women to Get ₹1 Lakh for Clearing UPSC, ₹50,000 for BPSC — Check Details

Bihar Government Scheme: The Government of Bihar is encouraging women to prepare for competitive examinations. To this end, the state government has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Nari Shakti Yojana’ (Chief Minister Women’s Empowerment Scheme). Under this scheme, the government provides a civil services incentive grant.

Eligible women who pass the preliminary examination receive financial assistance, which is intended to help them prepare effectively for the main examination (Mains) and the interview. This provides significant support to female candidates who might otherwise face financial hardships during their preparation.

What is the amount provided for UPSC and BPSC?
Women who qualify in the UPSC and BPSC examinations are eligible for an incentive grant. Those who pass the UPSC Mains examination receive an incentive of up to ₹1 lakh. Additionally, women who qualify in the BPSC examination receive an amount of ₹50,000. This serves as financial aid for the candidates.

What is the objective of this scheme?
Often, talented female candidates are unable to prepare for competitive examinations due to financial constraints—such as the difficulty in covering expenses for coaching, books, accommodation, and travel. The Government of Bihar has implemented this scheme to address these challenges, ensuring that essential expenses can be met.

How is the amount credited to bank accounts?
Under this scheme, the incentive grant is transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible women via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). This process ensures that the beneficiaries receive the funds directly. At the time of application, candidates are required to submit the necessary documents and provide details regarding their bank accounts.
