Mahindra Thar Armada: Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that the Thar 5-door lifestyle, off-road SUV is set to launch globally on August 15, 2024. Even though its official launch is a few months away, select Mahindra dealers have started taking pre-bookings for the model. The booking amount will range between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000, which may vary depending on the dealership.
Three powertrain options will be available
A media report states that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be offered with three engine options, including a 203bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol, a 175bhp, 2.2L diesel and a 117bhp, 1.5L diesel engine.
All these powertrains are already seen in the 3-door Thar.
The production-ready model of the 5-door Thar is likely to be named ‘Mahindra Thar Armada’. Customers will be able to buy it in a choice of 2WD and 4WD drivetrain systems with manual and automatic gearboxes. The SUV will be based on a ladder frame chassis and its suspension setup will be shared with the Scorpio N. It will also get a 5-link system with frequency-dependent dampers, which enhances its off-road capabilities.
Interior and Features
Compared to its 3-door version, the Mahindra Thar Armada will get more features, including a single-pan sunroof, leatherette seat upholstery, rear AC vents, push-button start, front and rear center armrests and 6 airbags. The dashboard design will be different from the 3-door Thar, with a fully digital dual screen serving as the infotainment system and instrument cluster. It will have disc brakes instead of rear drum brakes. It is also likely to have a 360-degree camera, dashcam and front parking sensors. What will the design be like? The Mahindra Thar Armada will look slightly different from the 3-door Thar, especially in terms of the front fascia.
This SUV will get a newly designed grille
Tweaked bumper with integrated LED fog lamps, LED headlamps and LED side indicators on the front fender. Its top trim is likely to get full LED lighting and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
