Mahindra next-generation EV : Mahindra is preparing its next-generation EV. Which will be built on the INGLO platform. Some major design updates have been seen in the concept and test mules. Now, a design patent reveals that Mahindra’s upcoming EV will also have a unique sporty steering wheel. At first glance, this steering wheel details look similar to Tata’s new models. Especially the flat central section and 2-spoke design are quite similar.

Design is found in new Tata cars

The steering wheel seen with Nexon and Nexon EV has an illuminated Tata logo and the Mahindra EV steering wheel also has a flat central section, so it is likely to get an illuminated logo as well. However, no official information is available about this. Mahindra may adopt a different look by placing a small display in its center. This may make it easier for the driver to access important information. Controls are provided on both sides of the steering wheel. These may also have touch-sensitive buttons with haptic feedback.

Driver will get convenience

The Mahindra XUV EV steering wheel has sporty aesthetics. It is somewhat similar to the steering wheel seen in high performance sports cars and other luxury vehicles. The rounded octagonal shape has flattened top and bottom parts, which improves legroom for the driver. This will be more beneficial in urban driving with heavy traffic. The unique shape of the steering wheel can also give a better viewing angle to the instrument console.

New airbag technology can be found

The Mahindra XUV EV steering wheel can use an advanced airbag system, which can work more quickly and effectively. We have seen how Tata has worked on its new steering wheel and faced challenges in integrating the airbag system. Some similar technology can also be seen in the new Mahindra EV steering wheel.

Where will the Mahindra EV steering wheel be used?

Mahindra can use its new EV steering wheel to design the upcoming next-generation XUV.e and BE range of electric cars. As this design moves from patent to production, it will be interesting to see how it changes the driving experience for Mahindra customers.
