Haryana Board: This time, children studying from Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) will have to study seven subjects instead of six from class IX and X from the new session. A letter has also been issued by the Principal Secretary of the School Education Department in this regard. It is written in it that the government has taken this decision due to the new education policy 2020. Earlier, students had to study six subjects.

Will have to study 7 subjects

Children taking admission in class IX in the new session i.e. 2025-26 in the state will have to study seven subjects instead of six. According to these subjects, children will have to study one subject from Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Vocational Subject Drawing, Physical Education and Music, apart from Sanskrit, Punjabi or Urdu. Earlier, Sanskrit, Punjabi and Urdu were not subjects.

In a letter issued by Pankaj Agarwal, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, it is written that this has been implemented under the New Education Policy 2020. From the new session 2025-26, it will be implemented in class IX and X. After this, when these children go to class X in the session 2026-27, it will remain applicable even then.

Three languages will become necessary

Earlier, children were given knowledge of only two languages, Hindi and English. Now from the new session, apart from these, children will be told about one other language from Sanskrit, Punjabi and Urdu. In this way, children will understand three languages.

Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, students of Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) will have to study seven subjects instead of six in classes IX and X. This change is in line with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The subjects will include:

1. Hindi

2. Englis

3. Mathematics

4. Science

5. Social Science

6. A vocational subject (such as Drawing)

7. Physical Education or Music

Additionally, students will be required to study one of the following languages: Sanskrit, Punjabi, or Urdu, alongside Hindi and English. This means that students will now be learning three languages, compared to the previous requirement of only two (Hindi and English). This new curriculum structure is intended to broaden students’ knowledge and language skills in accordance with the NEP. The change will apply in both class IX (starting 2025-26) and class X (2026-27).
