Trouble is growing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Yash Dayal. He has been banned from playing in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UPT20 2025). The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) took this step after an FIR was filed against him at Jaipur’s Sanganer Sadar Police Station in July. He is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl.

Dayal last played in May for the IPL 2025 winning RCB team. The UPCA is watching the case closely and has decided not to let him play in their main T20 league. Jaipur Police has registered a case under the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code (BNS). This news has shocked cricket fans.

Yash Dayal Banned from UPT20 2025

As per Dainik Jagran, Yash Dayal, who was bought for ₹7 lakh by the Gorakhpur Lions, has been banned by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) from playing in the UP T20 League 2025. Before the Jaipur complaint, an FIR was already registered against him in Ghaziabad for alleged sexual exploitation on the promise of marriage.

UPCA sources told the publication that Dayal was banned due to the cases filed against him. However, the Gorakhpur Lions’ owners said they have not yet received any formal order from the UPCA. The UPCA claimed they had warned the franchise not to allow Dayal to play. The franchise said that while his name is still on the team list, they will act if they get an official order.

In the Ghaziabad FIR, the complaint was first submitted to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s grievance portal on June 21. Later, a formal FIR was filed. The Allahabad High Court then ordered a stay on his arrest.

A second FIR in Jaipur claimed that Dayal exploited a minor over two years, promising her a cricket career. The 17-year-old girl alleged that during IPL 2025, Yash called her to a hotel in Sitapura, Jaipur, and assaulted her again.

Sanganer police station in-charge Anil Jaiman said the complainant met Dayal during a cricket event and was promised help in her cricket career in exchange for sexual favours.

Court Case and Past Controversy

The UPCA said they cannot allow Yash to play in the league while such serious allegations are pending. Yash applied for interim bail in the Rajasthan High Court, but Judge Sudesh Bansal rejected it, saying that due to the seriousness of the charges and the age of the victim, interim protection could not be given. The next hearing is on August 22.

His lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, claimed this was a targeted attempt to defame the cricketer, pointing out that a similar Ghaziabad case was stayed by the Allahabad High Court and that the Jaipur FIR came just seven days later.

This is not Yash Dayal’s first controversy. Two years ago, he was accused of sharing an objectionable communal post on Instagram. He later said the post was made from his account but was not uploaded by him. At present, legal action is ongoing, and his cricket career remains uncertain.
