An update from BCCI on Jasprit Bumrah’s absence

The Indian team has suffered a major setback midway through the T20 series. Spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel was unavailable for selection in the third T20 match due to illness. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also returned home midway through the T20 series, thus eliminating him from the squad. Bumrah is not injured and has returned home for personal reasons. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on this matter.

The BCCI said, “Axar Patel was unavailable for the third T20 International due to illness. Jasprit Bumrah has returned home for personal reasons and was unable to play in this match. Information regarding his inclusion in the squad for the remaining matches will be provided in due course.”

Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel had poor performances in the Mullanpur T20 match against South Africa. Bumrah conceded 45 runs in his four overs and went wicketless. Patel, on the other hand, scored 21 runs at a strike rate of 100. He also took just one wicket for 27 runs in his three overs.

India’s playing XI for the third T20: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy.
