New Delhi: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final between India and New Zealand is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and elected to bat first. New Zealand’s opening pair, Rachin Ravindra and Will Young, provided an aggressive start, building a solid 57-run partnership for the first wicket. The Kiwis lost their first wicket when Will Young was dismissed, followed by the crucial wicket of Rachin Ravindra, who was in sensational form throughout the tournament. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss him. Rachin scored 37 runs before heading back to the pavilion.
Kuldeep Yadav’s Brilliant Wrong’un Dismisses Rachin Ravindra
Rachin Ravindra started aggressively, putting Indian bowlers under pressure from the beginning. By the end of the first 10 overs, New Zealand had posted 69 runs for the loss of one wicket. To break this momentum, Indian captain Rohit Sharma handed the ball to spinner Kuldeep Yadav for the 11th over. Kuldeep bowled a deceptive wrong’un on his very first delivery. Rachin misread the ball, which pitched and turned sharply inward, crashing into the stumps. This was a massive breakthrough for India as Rachin was scoring fluently from one end.
During his 37-run knock, Rachin faced 29 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six. His dismissal shifted the game’s momentum in India’s favor, strengthening their chances of restricting New Zealand to a manageable total.

Rachin Ravindra Becomes Leading Run-Scorer of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Despite his early dismissal in the final, Rachin Ravindra achieved a significant milestone. His 37-run contribution helped him become the tournament’s leading run-scorer. Across four innings, he amassed 263 runs at an impressive average of 65.75. However, Indian star batsman Virat Kohli is not far behind. Kohli has scored 217 runs in the tournament so far and needs just 46 more to surpass Rachin as the highest run-scorer.
