Young left-handed batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has not made it to Team India for the Asia Cup 2025, starting next month in the UAE. This time, the Asia Cup will be played in T20 format, and Yashasvi has not played T20 cricket for a long time.
After the team was announced, an old video of India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir went viral, showing him being surrounded. In the video, Gambhir can be seen supporting Yashasvi’s selection in the Indian team. People are now questioning him because, when he was not the coach, he wanted Yashasvi to play T20. But now, as the coach, he has ignored this young batsman.

This video of Gautam Gambhir is from 2023, in which he was supporting Yashasvi Jaiswal for the T20 World Cup. In the video, Gambhir said,
“I think Yashasvi Jaiswal should be a part of the T20 team, not just for one tournament but for the next World Cup. Yashasvi has not only played well in the IPL, he has also scored a double century and a triple century in domestic cricket.”
Gambhir also said, “He has also scored a double century in the Vijay Hazare tournament in List-A cricket. What he has done in the IPL is just icing on the cake. That’s why he should be a part of the team in all three formats.”
Gill got preference
Shubman Gill has been preferred over Yashasvi for the Asia Cup. He has also been made the vice-captain of the team. Gill was out of the T20 team for a long time, but he performed well in the IPL and recently did well on the England tour. He was also the captain during the England tour. Because of this, Gill has been selected for the team while Yashasvi was ignored.
