The youth cricket team of India played its final group match of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 against Malaysia. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was expected to play a big innings in this match, which took place at The Sevens in Dubai on Tuesday, December 16th. Vaibhav was dismissed for just 50 runs. However, his teammate Abhigyan Kundu made a sensational impact with the bat. Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhigyan Kundu scored an unbeaten 209 runs off 125 balls, including 17 fours and nine sixes. Abhigyan completed his double century with a six.
Abhigyan Kundu breakes Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record
Abhigyan Kundu became the first Indian batsman to score a double century in a Youth ODI. This is also the second-highest score by a batsman in a Youth ODI, behind South Africa’s Jorich van Schalkwyk. Schalkwyk scored 215 against Zimbabwe Under-19 in Harare in July this year.
With this century, Abhigyan now holds the record for the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in the Under-19 Asia Cup. Previously, this record was held by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who also held the record with 171 runs in the same Asia Cup match against the UAE.
Abhigyan Kundu reached his double century in just 80 balls, hitting 11 fours and 1 six. He then launched into explosive batting, reaching 200 runs in the next 41 balls, a total of 121. During this period, he hit 17 fours and 9 sixes.

Abhigyan Kundu’s double century helped India post 408 for seven against Malaysia. Vedant Trivedi made a brilliant 90 and Vaibhav Suryavanshi contributed 50. Malaysia, chasing a target of 409, were bowled out for just 93 in 32.1 overs. Thus, India Under-19 won the match by a massive margin of 315 runs .
