The Indian team toured England for a 5-match Test series under the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The series excited fans and ended in a 2-2 draw. People debated the workload of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He played only 3 of the 5 matches.
Other Indian fast bowlers performed well when Bumrah did not play. India won the Edgbaston and Oval Tests without him. Some former players questioned Bumrah’s workload. But fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar supported him. Bhuvi said, “If a bowler gives his best, playing three matches in a series is enough.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Supports Bumrah’s Workload Management
Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in a podcast, “Jasprit Bumrah has been playing all three formats for many years. It is important for any bowler to stay fit. His bowling action has a risk of injury. Bumrah often bowls in difficult conditions, which puts mental and physical pressure on him.”
Bhuvneshwar added, “If a player’s career has to last long, it is important to manage his workload. I see no problem with him playing only 3 of 5 matches. If the selectors know the impact he can make in those three matches, it is fine. A player may not play all five matches but still contribute in three matches, and that is enough.”
Bumrah played 3 matches in the Test series against England and took 14 wickets, including two 5-wicket hauls. There is now doubt about his participation in the Asia Cup 2025. The Asia Cup will be played next month in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE.
Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been away from international cricket for a long time. He last played for India in November 2022. The 35-year-old has played 21 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 87 T20 Internationals. So far, the right-arm bowler has taken a total of 294 wickets.
