The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Tuesday approved a proposal to name a stand at Wankhede Stadium after India captain Rohit Sharma during its annual general meeting.

The MCA also said that two more stands will be named after former BCCI president Sharad Pawar and legendary batsman Ajit Wadekar. This proposal was suggested by politician and MCA apex council member Milind Narvekar.

Approval to Name the Stands at Wankhede Stadium

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said in a statement, “Another major proposal was passed during the Annual General Meeting. The naming of the stands at Wankhede Stadium was approved. The proposal was first put forward by Milind Narvekar and seconded by Jitendra Awhad. The members agreed and passed it unanimously.”

Earlier, stands at Wankhede Stadium were already named after Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Merchant, and Dilip Vengsarkar.

  1. Grand Stand Level 3 – Sharad Pawar Stand
  2. Grand Stand Level 4 – Ajit Wadekar Stand
  3. Divecha Pavilion Level 3 – Rohit Sharma Stand

Rohit Sharma Has Won 2 ICC Trophies as Captain
