Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). 25 percent of his match fee has been deducted. Maxwell broke the IPL Code of Conduct during the 22nd league match of IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings. He has received strict punishment for this. The IPL match referee fined him for damaging property and using abusive language during the match. However, it is still not clear when exactly Maxwell did this act, for which he was fined.
Glenn Maxwell Fined 25% of Match Fee and Given Demerit Point
In a media release issued by the IPL, it was stated that Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been fined 25 percent of his match fee. Along with this, a demerit point has also been added to his record for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Chennai Super Kings. This match was played at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Poor Performance with the Bat, Some Success with the Ball
In this match, Glenn Maxwell failed to help Punjab Kings with the bat. He was out after scoring just one run. However, he did manage to take one wicket with the ball. So far this season, Maxwell has not performed well.

Admitted Level 1 Offense Under IPL Code of Conduct
The same IPL release also stated that Glenn Maxwell admitted to a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This article includes using abusive language and damaging cricket equipment or property during a match. Maxwell accepted the match referee’s punishment. For Level 1 offenses, the match referee’s decision is final and cannot be changed.
Maxwell Lost Temper After Dismissal?
It is believed that Maxwell may have lost his cool after getting out for just one run when the team needed him most. He was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin, and this might have led to his angry reaction.
