Hardik Pandya was hero in India vs South Africa 1st T20I match
Hardik Pandya was injured during the Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka in September, after which he was away from the cricket field for some time. After his impressive performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Pandya proved his fitness when he was selected for the T20 series against South Africa. In this match, Pandya played an unbeaten inning of 59 runs in 28 balls with 4 sixes and 6 fours. After this, he bowled 2 overs and took 1 wicket for just 16 runs.
After winning the Player of the Match award, Pandya said, “I had to trust my shots. You had to show some courage here. This wasn’t a game about using too much power, but rather focused on timing. I was very satisfied with my batting. The last 6-7 months have been incredibly good for me in terms of fitness. Staying away from my loved ones for the last 50 days, spending time at the NCA, working on every aspect, and seeing the results on the field is incredibly satisfying.”

He said, “It feels great when you get results. As a cricketer, I don’t think I ever have any tantrums about my role. It doesn’t matter what Hardik Pandya wants, but what matters is what India wants. Whenever I get an opportunity, I try to give my best. Some days are good, some are not, but my mindset always helps me. Throughout my career, I have tried to put my team first and my country first, no matter which team I played for.”
In Cuttack, Team India lost the toss and batted first, scoring 175 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In response, the South African team was reduced to just 74 runs in 12.3 overs.
