The names of two big Indian legends, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, suddenly disappeared from the ICC ODI rankings. On Wednesday, August 20, both legends were missing from the list, which surprised everyone.

Just a week ago, Rohit had moved up to the second position in the ODI rankings, while Virat Kohli was at the fourth position with 736 points. Currently, Shubman Gill is at the top of the ODI rankings with 756 points. After the sudden removal of Rohit and Kohli’s names, the ICC admitted its mistake and gave a clarification on the matter.

It is believed that due to a system problem in the ICC website, the names of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not visible in the ODI rankings. In the current list, Babar Azam is placed at number two, even though both Rohit and Kohli are still active ODI players.

Recent Performances in ODIs

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last played in the ODI format in February 2025, during the Champions Trophy in the UAE. Rohit played a brilliant innings in the final, helping India win its first ICC ODI trophy in 10 years.

Kohli was also outstanding in the group stages of the tournament. He anchored India’s innings in tough conditions at the Dubai International Stadium against strong teams like New Zealand and Australia.
