Skoda Superb Diesel: The Skoda Superb is gearing up for a return to the Indian market with impressive updates. Skoda has officially unveiled the fourth-generation Superb for India in Mumbai, with a launch expected in mid-2027. The biggest news isn’t just the new Superb itself, but its diesel engine; the company is bringing a diesel powertrain back to the Indian market. Sales are expected to commence in mid-2027. In India, this sedan will feature a diesel engine, a luxurious interior, and advanced safety features.
2.0L Diesel Engine
The India-spec Skoda Superb will be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. This engine will generate a maximum power of approximately 147 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. It will be paired exclusively with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The new Superb will be brought to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. However, if the market response is positive, local assembly might be considered in the future, which could alter the car’s pricing down the line.
Design
The Skoda Superb’s design is elegant and premium. The front features Skoda’s signature ‘butterfly grille’ flanked by LED matrix headlights, with chrome garnishes on the bumper. Sharp creases define the car’s side profile. At the rear, contemporary LED tail lights feature a distinctive C-shaped design element.
Luxury Interior
While the new Superb’s cabin shares similarities with the Skoda Kodiaq, the India-spec model has been designed with a greater focus on luxury. It will feature a ‘Cognac’ coloured leather interior, creating a warm and premium atmosphere within the cabin.
A ‘Sleep Package’ will be available for rear passengers. Additionally, the rear seating area offers a dedicated climate zone and sunblinds. Skoda has also paid significant attention to cabin noise insulation, utilising enhanced sound-insulating materials throughout the vehicle. Even the rear door pockets feature felt lining.
13-inch Screen
The dashboard houses a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the driver gets a TFT instrument cluster. It will also come equipped with a Canton audio system, known for delivering a premium music experience.
In terms of safety, the Superb offers a robust package. The India-spec model will feature advanced safety systems, including 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Additionally, smart, multi-function climate control dials will contribute to the cabin’s modern appeal.
