Salary Hike: The government may offer a gift before Diwali to the Patwaris in Madhya Pradesh, who have been fighting for a pay scale revision for the past 28 years. Patwaris have been demanding a pending pay scale revision since 1998, but the government has not yet taken any decision on this demand. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected to attend the state-level Patwari Conference in Bhopal on October 27th. It is believed that the Chief Minister may announce an upgrade to the Patwaris’ pay scale at the conference.
State-Level Conference Scheduled in Bhopal
For nearly three decades, Patwaris across Madhya Pradesh have been pushing for a pay scale adjustment without success, despite staging multiple protests and strikes. Now, these dedicated professionals are coming together for an important state-level conference in Bhopal, the state capital, on October 27th. The Patwari Association is actively preparing for this significant gathering, and participants are hopeful about what it might bring.
Previous Meeting with the Chief Minister
The Swamitva Yojana was unveiled in Indore on September 17th, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The ambitious goal was to achieve 5 million registrations within just one month. Patwaris were assigned as execution officers to drive this initiative forward. Initially, they voiced concerns and declined to participate from the start. However, following a productive meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on October 9th, the Patwaris agreed to move forward with registrations. Throughout these discussions, they consistently emphasized their long-standing request for pay scale revision.
Chief Minister Commits to Pay Scale Revision
According to Rameshchandra Sharma, head of the Madhya Pradesh State Employees Welfare Committee, “The government has pledged to overturn any disciplinary measures taken against Patwaris and to address the outstanding pay scale revision request. Given these commitments, there’s optimism that the Chief Minister may formally announce a pay scale revision for Patwaris during the October 27th conference.”
