Ration Card e-KYC: The Government of India has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders to bring transparency to ration distribution and prevent misuse of the Public Distribution System (PDS). If you do not complete the e-KYC process, you will stop receiving government ration benefits and will be classified as an ineligible ration card holder. Failure to complete e-KYC could result in your name being removed from the ration card, and you will also lose access to subsidised food grains.
The Madhya Pradesh government has made e-KYC mandatory. In a post on the social media platform X, the government stated, “Have you completed your e-KYC? If not, visit your nearest fair-price shop without delay to get it done. This simple process ensures that the benefits of the government ration scheme reach the right person directly. Complete your e-KYC on time to avoid any inconvenience.”
Why is e-KYC necessary?
e-KYC has been made mandatory to verify the identity of ration card holders, prevent fraud, and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are receiving their ration benefits. Aadhaar verification is crucial for this process, as it enables the government to eliminate fake and duplicate ration cards. Here is how you can complete the e-KYC process.
How to complete e-KYC online
First, visit the PDS website for Madhya Pradesh, as each state has its own e-KYC platform. On the home page, navigate to the ‘Services’ or ‘Ration Card’ menu and select the option for Ration Card e-KYC.
Next, use the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar account. An OTP will be sent to your mobile to complete the verification process; you will need to enter this OTP.
Once you enter the OTP for verification, you will receive a confirmation message stating that your e-KYC has been completed.
How to complete e-KYC offline
To complete the e-KYC process, you can visit a nearby Public Distribution System (PDS) shop or a registered dealer. If you are residing outside your home state, you do not need to return there; you can complete the e-KYC at a local PDS shop using an ePOS machine.
