Ration Card Update: If you are a ration card holder and move to a different city or state for work, studies, or employment, you do not need to worry about accessing your ration benefits. Under the government’s ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ (ONORC) scheme, you can avail yourself of ration card benefits based on your eligibility in any state across the country.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution has shared information on the social media platform ‘X’ to raise awareness about the scheme; if you are away from your family, ration facilities remain portable for eligible beneficiaries under ONORC. Additionally, locating a ration shop has become straightforward.
Beneficiaries can conveniently find information about nearby ration shops (Fair Price Shops) using the ‘Mera Ration’ app. The primary objective of this scheme is to extend these benefits to ration card holders residing in states apart from their home state.

What is the One Nation-One Ration Card scheme?
Under this government scheme, ration card holders can access ration supplies anywhere in the country. For instance, if you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh but are living in a city in Rajasthan, you can collect your allocated ration from a local ration shop there. Simultaneously, the eligible individual’s family can collect their share of the ration in their home village. There is no need to get a new ration card made for this purpose.
What Aadhaar card holders need to do
If you reside in another city for employment, manual labour, or studies, you do not need to apply for a new ration card. You can collect your ration based on your eligibility using your existing card.
To collect the ration, you must verify your identity at the government shop using an e-PoS (Electronic Point of Sale) machine. This process involves Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, such as fingerprint verification. If you face any issues obtaining approval, you can seek assistance from the Food Department.
How to find a nearby ration shop?
If you live in a city in another state and do not know the location of the government ration shop, you can search for it using the government’s ‘Mera Ration’ app. Availing this facility is effortless. Additionally, if you wish to obtain more information related to rations, you can visit the official website of the Department of Food and Public Distribution at dfpd.gov.in.
