Royal Enfield Himalayan 440: Royal Enfield has launched its adventure motorcycle, the Himalayan 440, in India. Priced at ₹2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), this bike retains the essence of the older Himalayan 411 but now comes with a larger engine and an improved mechanical setup.

The Himalayan 440 features a 443cc single-cylinder engine, a 21-inch front wheel, 220mm ground clearance, and long-travel suspension. It was designed for touring and off-road riding; Royal Enfield prioritised practicality and off-road capability over aesthetics.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Design

The Himalayan 440’s design strongly resembles the older Himalayan 411, which is one of its key highlights. Elements like the fuel tank, compact windscreen, and compact tail section give it a distinct adventure-ready look. The design is entirely function-focused; the bike is built not just to look good standing still, but to perform on challenging terrains.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 443cc Engine

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is powered by a 443cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine. It produces 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This torque-focused character proves highly beneficial when navigating rough roads, steep inclines, or light off-road sections.

Suspension and Ground Clearance

Suspension setup is crucial for an adventure motorcycle, and the Himalayan 440 offers a robust package in this regard. The bike utilises a half-duplex cradle frame, paired with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear.

It offers 200mm of front travel and 180mm of rear travel. This suspension setup helps absorb large bumps and impacts on uneven roads and off-road trails. The bike boasts an impressive ground clearance of 220mm, significantly reducing the risk of the underbody scraping against the ground when navigating rocks, potholes, or uneven terrain.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Features

The Himalayan 440 comes with an LED headlight and LED tail light. It also includes Royal Enfield’s Tripper navigation system, which assists with navigation during long journeys.
