Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat Trains- Indian Railways Changes Booking Rules, Confirmed Tickets More Accessible

Vande Bharat Train: Indian Railways has once again taken a major decision for passengers. Keeping passenger convenience in mind, the Railways has made a very important change. Under this, the facility of āemergency quotaā has been started in the countryās most modern trains, Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat Express. Until now, only women, disabled, senior citizen and duty pass quotas were applicable in these trains. Emergency or RAC facility was not available, due to which getting a ticket at the last minute became almost impossible.
Rules changed as demand increased
Following the ever-increasing demand from passengers, the Railway Board has amended the rules. According to the new provision, some berths in these trains will be reserved exclusively for emergencies. In Amrit Bharat trains, which have seven or more sleeper coaches, now 24 berths will be reserved under the emergency quota. In Vande Bharat Sleeper, separate arrangements have been made for weekdays and weekends. In First AC, 4 berths will be reserved on working days and 6 on weekends. In Second AC, 20 berths will be reserved on normal days and 30 on weekends. In Third AC, 24 berths will be kept in the emergency quota on working days and 42 on weekends.
These passengers will get relief
The Railways has also empowered zonal officials to review and adjust quotas periodically to meet demand. This decision will provide significant relief to passengers who must travel suddenly due to family illness, emergencies, or urgent government work. With this decision, passengers will now be able to receive confirmed seats on these trains on a priority basis in cases of serious illness, a sudden family emergency, or VIP duty.
It is worth noting that this decision by the Railways not only addresses passenger complaints but also marks a major step toward making modern trains like the Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat more practical for the general public. The introduction of the emergency quota will provide significant relief to passengers who must travel at the last minute for urgent reasons. Passengers now have no need to worry if they need to travel at the last minute.
What is the new rule?
Up until now, the new and modern trains did not have a defined emergency quota, which made it challenging for passengers to obtain a confirmed seat in urgent situations. With the introduction of the new order, these trains, similar to other premium services like Rajdhani or Shatabdi, will now allocate some seats specifically for emergency needs.
Who will benefit from this?
The emergency quota is not accessible to everyone. Its advantages are mainly applicable in the following scenarios:
Medical emergency: For the patient and their accompanying attendant.
Unfortunate family events: In the event of a death or serious accident within the family.
Government duty: For significant government assignments or VIP travel.
Very Distinguished Person (VIP): For the travel of MPs, MLAs, or individuals holding other constitutional positions.
How to avail the benefit of this quota?
If you find yourself in need of a ticket during an emergency, hereās what you need to do:
Application Form: First, you must submit a written application (Letter/Application).
Documents: If itās a medical emergency, ensure you have a doctorās prescription or other essential documents.
Where to submit: This application should be handed in at the DRM office or the Chief Reservation Supervisor of the relevant railway division.
Time limit: This entire process should be completed at least 3-4 hours prior to chart preparation. Once the quota is granted, your waitlisted ticket will be confirmed.
