Mahila Rojgar Yojana: Monday brought fresh optimism for the women of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a significant step towards empowering women by providing direct financial assistance to 2.5 million women across the state. During an event at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, in Patna, the Chief Minister executed the release of crores of rupees with just one click through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

2500 crore rupees directly transferred to the account

This initiative, part of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, has ensured complete transparency. The government has removed middlemen from the process and sent funds straight to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. On Monday, a total of Rs 2,500 crore was disbursed, with each beneficiary woman receiving Rs 10,000. This financial support is a blessing for women looking to launch small businesses or enhance their current livelihoods. Officials state that this financial aid is a crucial first step towards achieving self-reliance for women.

The groundwork for this ambitious initiative was established last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the “Chief Minister Women’s Employment Scheme” in Bihar in September 2025. Since its inception, the scheme has been growing consistently. Data indicates that around 18.1 million women have received their first installment of Rs 10,000 each under this program.

The most attractive aspect of this scheme is that the assistance will not stop at just 10,000 rupees. This amount is just the beginning. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has clarified that women who use this 10,000 rupees appropriately to establish their own businesses or employment will receive further government assistance as a reward. Such successful beneficiaries will soon receive an additional 2 lakh rupees. The Chief Minister recently announced that the state government has begun the process of providing additional financial assistance of up to 2 lakh rupees to selected beneficiaries.
