What are the rules for the Karwa Chauth fast?
On the day of Karwa Chauth, one should consume ‘Sargi’ before sunrise. Sargi may include fruits, sweets, and nutritious food items.
According to religious beliefs, one should wear clothes in red, pink, or other auspicious colours on this day.
It is customary to perform ‘Solah Shringar’ (traditional adornment) and listen to the ‘Vrat Katha’ (the story of the fast) during the Karwa Chauth puja.
The fast is broken after offering ‘Arghya’ (libation) to the moon and catching a glimpse of one’s husband.
Maintain a positive state of mind throughout the fast and avoid getting angry. In the evening, during the auspicious time, perform worship of Karva Mata and Lord Ganesha, and listen to the Vrat Katha (the fast-related legend).
After moonrise, offer water to Chandra Dev (the Moon God).
