Today’s Weather, May 7, 2026: The weather across North India, including Delhi-NCR, is changing very rapidly. While the mornings bring mild sunshine, by evening the skies become overcast, and strong, gusty winds often blow. In Delhi-NCR, the humid heat following recent rains and storms is causing discomfort to residents. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms—and even snowfall in some areas—for May 7 across several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttarakhand.

The Department adds that strong winds, blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 km/h, may also occur in various locations. A new Western Disturbance is expected to become active on May 10 and 11, potentially impacting Northwest India. Clouds to Cover Delhi
Following recent rains and hailstorms, humidity levels in Delhi have risen significantly. Today, the skies over Delhi-NCR are likely to remain overcast. According to the Meteorological Department, clouds may gather over Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad today. Currently, however, there is no forecast for rain.

Rain Alert Issued for These States
An alert has been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura due to the possibility of light to moderate rainfall on May 7. In Eastern India—specifically the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha regions—several areas may experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms between May 7 and May 10.

Some localities may also experience strong winds ranging from 50 to 70 km/h. Over the next 6–7 days, isolated to scattered instances of thunderstorms, lightning strikes, strong winds (40–60 km/h), and heavy rainfall are forecast for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

According to the Meteorological Department, the regions of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha are likely to experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall between May 7 and May 9. Additionally, hailstorms are possible in certain locations.

In the South Indian peninsula—specifically in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana—a spell of rainfall is likely to continue between May 7 and May 9. Heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala and Tamil Nadu over the next several days.

The spell of rain currently continues in the hilly regions. Rain is forecast for Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on May 7. According to the IMD, skies will remain overcast today in Dehradun, Nainital, Mussoorie, Shimla, and Manali.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding heatwaves in several cities across the state today. However, parts of East Rajasthan may experience rainfall today.
