How much rice, wheat, flour, or sugar has been allocated to each card? Know all the details through this article.

Types and Benefits of Ration Cards

The West Bengal government has introduced four main types of ration cards. These cards help people get food items in the quantity decided by the government. The types of ration cards are:

  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)
  • Special Priority Families (SPH)
  • Priority Families (PHH)
  • RKSY-1 and RKSY-2

Additionally, special ration cards are provided for people living in jungle and hilly areas.

1. Benefits of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Card Holders

AAY cardholders belong to very low-income groups. Therefore, they receive more ration benefits. In March, AAY cardholders will get:

  • 21 kg of rice
  • 14 kg of wheat (currently replaced with atta)
  • 1 kg of sugar

2. Benefits of Special Priority (SPH) and Priority Family (PHH) Card Holders

SPH and PHH cards are given to middle-class or lower-middle-class families who face regular income problems and cannot afford food items. These cardholders will receive:

  • 3 kg of rice
  • 1 kg 900 grams of flour per month
  • These benefits help families facing financial difficulties.

3. Benefits of RKSY-1 and RKSY-2 Card Holders

RKSY cards are given to low-income families who do not qualify for SPH benefits. The benefits include:

  • RKSY-1 Card: 5 kg of rice per month
  • RKSY-2 Card: 2 kg of rice per month

4. Special Benefits for People in Jungle and Hilly Areas

People living in jungles and hilly areas receive additional rations as their income opportunities are limited. Most of them work as laborers in tea gardens or forests. These residents receive more food items compared to regular ration cardholders.

Important Information for Ration Card Holders

Make sure to check how much ration you are eligible for and collect it on time. If you face any issues or receive less ration than allocated, contact the dealer or file a complaint with the government helpline.
