Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the second Indian to set foot on the International Space Station, has now returned to India.

Shubhanshu Shukla, who landed from a flight at Delhi Airport, has been given a grand welcome by the government. Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and a large number of people have reached the airport to welcome him. People were also seen waving the tricolour along with playing drums to welcome him. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has also welcomed him by giving him a bouquet.

Shubhanshu Shukla’s space journey

Shubhanshu Shukla has been the group pilot of the Axiom-4 mission. This mission was launched on June 25 at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. A day after this, on June 26, it connected to the ISS. Shukla was training at the facilities of NASA, Axiom and SpaceX in America for the last year.

At the same time, Shukla’s experience will play a big role in India’s ambitious human space program, Gaganyaa., India has also set a target of an Indian Space Station by 2035 and a manned lunar mission by 2040.

In his address on the 79th Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi had praised Shubhanshu Shukla’s successful journey. Now, Shubhanshu Shukla will meet PM Narendra Modi on 23 August 2025. This meeting will take place during the National Space Day program.
