Senior Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India, Manish Garg, participated in an important review meeting regarding election preparations. The meeting was held via video conferencing and was attended by State-level Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjyal and State Police Nodal Officer Kundan Krishnan.
Paramilitary forces will be deployed
Paramilitary forces will be deployed to maintain tight security during the Bihar elections. The Senior Deputy Election Commissioner has issued guidelines for effective preparations for the deployment of paramilitary forces, arms recovery, vigilance at interstate borders, seizure of liquor, and control of illegal activities.
Not only this, orders have also been issued to the Bihar Police to maintain law and order. The meeting also discussed facilities and special arrangements at polling stations.
How will the elderly be able to vote?
The Election Commission has provided the facility for senior citizens to vote by postal ballot. Voters over 85 years of age will also be eligible for postal ballots, and publicity has been emphasised. This information is being publicly provided to voters.
The meeting also issued guidelines for ensuring active and transparent participation of political parties, strengthening media monitoring and certification, and taking concrete steps to control fake news on social media.
