The earth shook three times in a day on the Nepal and Tibet border, the strongest tremor was of 5.9 magnitude. However, the matter of relief was that there was no news of any loss of life or property from anywhere.
Where did the earthquake occur?
2:35 pm: A strong earthquake of 5.9 magnitude hit the Dingge area of Tibet. Its tremors were felt till Kathmandu and the eastern districts of Nepal.
6:20 am: The earth also shook in Baglung district of western Nepal, an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude occurred here.
3:14 am: An earthquake of 4.0 magnitude was also recorded in Myagdi district.
Why are there so many earthquakes in Nepal?
Nepal is situated at a place where the tectonic plates of the earth collide with each other. Therefore, earthquakes are shared here. So far, in 2025, 10 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or more have occurred. You may remember that in 2015, terrible earthquakes of 7.8 and 7.3 magnitudes caused massive devastation in Nepal, killing more than 9,000 people.
Why do earthquakes occur?
There are large rocks under the earth called tectonic plates. When these plates collide or slide against each other, amuchenergy is released. This energy spreads like waves on the earth’s surface, which we call an earthquake.
