CBSE board exams started on 15 February 2025. Among all the papers conducted so far, the 12th Physics paper is said to be the most difficult. The CBSE board is very strict about issues like paper leaks, cheating, and spreading rumours during exams. The Central Board of Secondary Education had issued strict guidelines even before the CBSE exams began. Despite this, a case of cheating has come to light from Surat.

These days, everyone, whether children or adults, is using ChatGPT and other AI tools. While students mostly use ChatGPT for studying or making notes, two students in Surat, Gujarat, were caught cheating with it. As a result, both students have been banned from exams for two years. This incident took place during the CBSE Class 12 Physics exam on Friday. Following this, strict measures have been enforced at both examination centres.

CBSE Exam Guidelines: CBSE Tightens the Rules

According to local media reports from Surat, two Class 12 students were caught cheating using ChatGPT. They were using the AI application to write answers for the 12th Physics exam. Both students have been punished under CBSE’s new rules and will not be allowed to appear for the board exams in 2025-26 and the next session (2026-27). One student was caught at Swaminarayan Mission School in Laskana and the other at Maheshwari Vidyapeeth School in Piplode.

Board Exams Cheating Hacks: Mobile Hidden in Underwear

As per media reports, both students had hidden mobile phones in their underwear. They were searching for answers on ChatGPT while going to the washroom and writing them down by keeping the mobile under the exam paper. However, the supervisor noticed their suspicious behaviour and caught them red-handed. After this incident of cheating using mobile phones and ChatGPT, strict measures have been enforced at the examination centres.
