Vivo Y50m 5G: Vivo has launched two new 5G smartphones in China on 21 July 2025 – Vivo Y50m 5G and Vivo Y50 5G. Both phones target users in the entry-to-mid segment, where the focus is on a large battery, 5G connectivity, and pocket-friendly price. Let’s do a detailed review of both these phones in a friendly desi style!

Design & Display

The Vivo Y50m 5G and Y50 5G both use the same 6.74-inch LCD display. It has HD+ resolution (720×1600 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, which feels quite smooth for scrolling or light gaming. The peak brightness goes up to 1000 nits, so the screen is clearly visible even in the sun. There is a minimal waterdrop notch above the screen, which is attached to the front camera in a complete style. The design of both phones is identically slim and lightweight, though they feel a bit sturdy with 204g weight.

Performance & Processor

Under the hood, both devices are equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is based on 6nm manufacturing process. This chipset comes with 2 Cortex-A76 power cores and 6 energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores, which makes multitasking, 5G connectivity, and casual gaming smoothly. The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU also delivers decent graphics performance, which is perfect for social media, video playback, and navigation.

Battery & Charging

Both phones offer a major standout feature here – a massive 6,000mAh battery! Vivo says that one can easily get up to 52 hours of talk time, which is enough to give more than a day of backup even in real usage. These phones have a 44W fast charging feature, which quickly fills the battery to the brim. There is also a reverse wired charging feature that can also be useful for charging your earbuds or smartwatch.

Camera Experience

Rear camera setup is simple in both phones – 13MP single rear camera with LED flash. For selfies, there is a 5MP front camera with an aperture of f/2.2. Vivo hasn’t gone for multiple lenses here, so the focus is on basic photography and selfies. Decent shots are taken in light conditions, but may not be enough for ultra-detailed photography.

Software & Connectivity

Both devices launch with OriginOS 5, which is Android-based. Vivo offers their latest software customisations, themes, and optimisations that make the user experience light and smooth. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Wi‑Fi, USB-C, and e‑compass, proximity and ambient light sensors. With an IP64 rating, they are protected from dust and splashes—these features are quite useful for everyday use.

The base variant of Y50 5G starts with 4GB RAM + 128GB storage and goes upto 12GB RAM + 256GB. If converted in India, the price can be from ₹14,500 to ₹27,600. Y50m 5G starts with base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option and similar pricing has been kept for higher models.
