Vivo Y300 5G: Vivo has entered the 5G budget segment with its Y-series phone, the Y300 5G. On paper, the phone is a dash of fashion-forward design and decent hardware, and it is an excellent value for the masses. Is it here, though, to be loved among the ranks? Let’s see.

Design and Build: Sleek and Modern

Vivo Y300 5G is quite a thing with wafer-like thinness of just 7.8mm and featherlight 188g that is light enough to grip for extended periods as well. Sartorial phone design topped by the casual-looking punch-hole screen puts it in a class, highly-styled-looking phones. That touch of luxury one just isn’t sure one is going to discover at this price comes through in the in-display fingerprint reader.

Display: AMOLED with Good Visuals

The phone boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 395 ppi pixel density. The phone further boasts a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1800 nits to read outside. Although the screen isn’t the best in terms of crispness, the phone has clean and smooth images, good enough for everyday use at times.

Camera: Standard Performance

Vivo Y300 5G comes with a dual camera at the rear of a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. It can record at a maximum of 1080p at 30fps. There is also a 32MP selfie camera for social media use. It is not class-leading in terms of camera performance, but it provides average output for daytime.

Performance: Good Enough for Day-to-Day Usage

Within the hood, it relies on Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with an octa-core speed of 2.2GHz. It comes with 8GB RAM and an additional 8GB virtual RAM, as well as 128GB of storage. Even simple tasks such as surfing social networks, streaming, and light-level multitasking are very manageable. Storage capacity up to 2TB is even supported by a hybrid port.

Connectivity and Battery: Fast Charging Plus

The phone supports 4G, 5G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and USB-C connectivity. The phone has a 5000mAh battery that will keep you going through the day, and the 80W fast charging returns you to normal in no time at all. Giving up on a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio would be a letdown for some.

Verdict: Excellent Value for Budget 5G Users

Vivo Y300 5G is a performance phone overall that offers performance, looks, and battery, and is worth buying. It’s an affordable feature for someone who needs the 5G feature but needs nothing more. It does not do anything extraordinary so exceptionally well, or offer an excellent overall performance that will meet most people’s needs of a new mid-range smartphone.
