Jovi V50 5G: A few months ago, it was reported that Vivo could launch smartphones under its new Jovi branding. Now these speculations have turned into reality, as Vivo has officially launched the Jovi V50 5G and Jovi V50 Lite 5G in Brazil. Both these devices are the first smartphones to hit the Brazilian market under the Jovi brand. Earlier it was believed that Jovi could be a new sub-brand, but in fact it is not a new sub-brand but a special strategic rebranding of Vivo for the Brazilian market.
Why the name changed in Brazil?
There is an interesting reason behind adopting the Jovi branding. Actually, the name “Vivo” is already registered as a trademark with the Telefônica Brasil company in Brazil. In such a situation, Vivo had to launch its phones with a new name to avoid legal dispute. Therefore, Vivo has rebranded its phones under the Jovi brand name, but they will have the same powerful specifications and features that are available with the Vivo V50 series in the international market.
Jovi V50 5G: Combination of powerful design and great performance
The Jovi V50 5G is a premium device that comes with an IP68/69 rating, meaning this phone will be well protected from water and dust. The phone has a 6.77-inch curved-edge AMOLED display that offers 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and tremendous 4500nits peak brightness. This great screen also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, which makes the look and feel of the phone very premium.
Talking about processing, this phone has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset which is very powerful in terms of performance. Also, it has a big 6000mAh battery which supports 90W fast charging. That is, the phone can be charged very quickly and the battery will last for a long time.
The phone has 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB UFS 2.2 storage, which makes the experience of heavy tasking and multimedia use smooth and lag-free. Talking about the camera section, it has a 50MP front camera for selfie and video calling, while on the back there is a 50MP primary camera with OIS support, 50MP ultra-wide camera and Aura LED flash.
The Jovi V50 runs on Android 15 operating system, on top of which the company’s custom interface FunTouch OS 15 is present, which gives a smart and user-friendly experience.
Jovi V50 Lite 5G: Heavy in battery, not light in performance
Jovi V50 Lite 5G also comes with the same 6.77-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, but its brightness is slightly lower i.e. up to 1800nits. The refresh rate of the screen is 120Hz, which maintains smooth scrolling and gaming experience. This device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, which is quite impressive for mid-range users.
The phone has 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The most important thing in this is its 6,500mAh battery, which supports 90W fast charging. Due to the big battery, the user will get long backup, whether watching videos or playing games.
The selfie camera is 32MP, which is great for everything from normal video calls to social media content. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera with Sony IMX882 sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The phone runs on Android 15 and has a layer of FunTouch OS 16. Apart from this, this phone is also very strong and durable with in-display fingerprint sensor and IP65 rating.
When and how much will it cost?
At present, no information has been revealed about the price of Jovi V50 and Jovi V50 Lite 5G. But looking at these specifications, it is expected that these phones can be placed in the premium mid-range segment. It will be interesting to see how successful this strategy of Vivo is in Brazil and whether the company takes this Jovi brand forward to other countries or not.
