The Infinix Note 50s 5G+ is a budget phone that has just been launched in India and is making waves for its svelte looks, colorful screen, and day-to-day performance. The phone is available for less than ₹16,000 but features things that are normally associated with higher-end smartphones. But is it worth the purchase? Here are four reasons why you might want to buy it and two reasons you might not.
Lightweight and stylish design
The Infinix Note 50s 5G+ is lightweight and comfortable to hold due to its thin 7.6mm frame and 180g weight. It features a polycarbonate or vegan leather rear panel and can be bought in Marine Drift Blue, Burgundy Red, and Titanium Grey colours. The device sports a matte metallic look with subtle curves that provide good grip and give it a high-end feel. It is also IP64 dust and water resistant and MIL-STD810 durable, prepared for tough use.
Immersive AMOLED display
One of the best things about this device is its huge 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. The 144Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness provide smooth visuals and great outdoor legibility. Gorilla Glass 5 protection and HDR10 support are the icing on the cake in terms of the premium experience. While in use, the panel appeared colorful and immersive, giving it an edge over the competition in this class.
Smooth everyday performance
The phone comes fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate processor, along with up to 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It is based on Android 15-based XOS 15. During everyday usage, it performs multitasking effortlessly and does not exhibit any kind of lag. The applications launch briskly, and the system is generally smooth. But this performance largely remains stable under normal indoor usage.
Good camera for daytime photography
Infinix Note 50s 5G+ has a 64MP rear camera that is supported by OIS. In daylight, the camera produces clear images with rich colours and perfectly balanced exposures. The shutter speed is quick, and the overall output is perfectly shareable on social media. Color tones might look a shade enhanced, but they do look good to most general users.
2 Reasons to Skip
No storage expansion feature
One of the shortcomings of this phone is that it does not have a microSD card slot. This implies that users have to depend on internal storage. If you go for the base model, you may find it restrictive in the long term, particularly if you have a lot of apps, images, and videos that you save. This makes it necessary to choose the correct configuration from the beginning.
Thermal performance under stress
While the phone works well when used normally, it heats up when used in bright sunlight or when it’s heavily used in hot weather. Its thin profile appears to impede heat dissipation. We experienced minor lag when we used the phone in sunlight, and this might be an issue to those in warmer climates or gamers who frequently use their phones outdoors.
