OnePlus Watch 2 with Wear OS 4:The OnePlus Watch 2’s battery life will be much improved. Indeed, it has been observed that Wear OS 4 significantly extends the battery life of smartwatches that run Google’s operating system. It is also supposed to change how notifications are processed because it would forward them to an external system, extending the device’s battery life. The company unveiled the OnePlus Watch 2 at the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC). The first smartwatch with this enhanced feature will be this one.
Up until now, Wear OS’s application processor (AP) has handled and processed notifications. The gadget uses more power to display notifications as a result. On the other hand, the microcontroller unit (MCU) handles a variety of low battery consumption functions independently, such as heart rate monitoring and step counting. Google will now permit manufacturers to switch to MCU for the notification system, according to a report from The Verge. Following that, there will be a significant decrease in the amount of battery used to display notifications.
According to the manufacturer, this feature was created especially for the OnePlus Watch 2. But it will now also be extended to other smartwatches. This functionality will also be available to other companies, according to Bjorn Kilburn, vice president of WearOS at Google, who spoke to the outlet. This implies that going forward, the MCU will be in charge of displaying notifications, ignoring them, or responding to them right away.
Despite this, consumers might not notice any change in the notifications they receive regarding this change. But because of the longer battery life, they will undoubtedly notice the difference. The OnePlus Watch 2 was unveiled at MWC 2025. The OnePlus Watch 2 has a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen. Its chipset is Snapdragon W5. A 500mAh battery is included, and 7.5W charging is available. The price of it is Rs 20,990. The Flipkart sale is scheduled to begin on March 4.
