Apple Foldable iPhone Ultra: Tech giant Apple is all set to revolutionize the smartphone world. According to media reports, Apple is set to launch its first foldable iPhone, dubbed the iPhone Ultra, in September this year. This device will feature a book-style design, a massive 7.8-inch main screen, and the world’s first 2nm processor, the A20 Pro, to rival foldable phones from Samsung and Google.
This Apple phone will not only offer a new multitasking experience, but features like a liquid metal hinge and a high-quality punch-hole camera instead of an under-display display will make it the king of the premium segment.
Design and Display
Apple’s foldable iPhone Ultra will be slightly wider than traditional foldable phones, making it feel like a mini iPad when opened. Its main screen will be 7.8-inches, while the outer cover screen will feature a 5.5-inch cover screen. Apple is working on new technology to completely eliminate the crease (the line between the screens) on this phone.
For strength, a hinge made of liquid metal has been used, which will not only make it lightweight but also ensure its functionality remains unchanged even after thousands of folds. The phone’s frame may be made of titanium alloy, giving it both strength and a premium look.
A20 Pro Chipset
The iPhone Ultra is set to make history in terms of performance. It will feature Apple’s most advanced A20 Pro chipset to date, based on a 2nm process. This is the same processor that will also be seen in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series. This chipset will be significantly more power-efficient and faster than current models. This processor will allow the phone to handle heavy gaming, 8K video editing, and advanced AI features with ease.
iOS 27 and Multitasking
The foldable iPhone Ultra will run on the new iOS 27 operating system. Notably, Apple has redesigned all of its apps for this phone to work better on the larger screen. It will feature split-screen multitasking, allowing you to use two apps simultaneously. However, Apple has clarified that this will not be compatible with iPad OS, but will instead enhance the iPhone experience on a larger screen.
Camera and Biometrics
Apple is ditching the “Dynamic Island” or the old “notch” design and adopting a punch-hole camera design. Both screens will feature high-quality selfie cameras to ensure seamless video calling and photography. For security, Apple has opted for side-mounted Touch ID instead of Face ID, given the foldable phone’s design. This fingerprint sensor, integrated into the power button, will make unlocking the phone easier both when folded and unfolded.
Battery and Charging
The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a larger 5,000 to 5,500 mAh battery. While this capacity is comparable to Android foldables, the A20 Pro chipset’s impressive efficiency could give it a leg up on battery life. Apple’s optimization technology will ensure users get a full day’s worth of backup despite its large screen.
