Huawei Pura 80 Series: Huawei officially launched its new Pura 80 series in China, highlighting the emphasis on camera innovation and user experience. The new series features four devices, Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and Pura 80 Ultra, that come with substantial camera, battery, and satellite connectivity upgrades.
Imaging-First Strategy Lives on with a New Name
This launch marks the evolution of Huawei’s photography-first philosophy, previously seen in the P-series, now rebranded as Pura. Although Huawei hasn’t revealed details about the processors inside these devices, the company has packed in top-tier camera hardware and advanced features across the board.
Premium Display and Refined Design
All four models have beautiful designs with flat and curved OLED screens, depending on the version. The Pura 80 has a 6.6-inch flat OLED screen, while the Pro, Pro+, and Ultra have 6.8-inch curved LTPO OLED screens. The screens have adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, HDR Vivid, 10-bit color depth, and a maximum brightness of 3000 nits.
Improved Durability and Water Resistance
In order to enhance longevity, Huawei has introduced second-generation Kunlun Glass throughout the range. All models in the Pura 80 range are IP68/IP69 certified for dust and water resistance. The Ultra model also receives an upmarket “sun-pattern” design with golden decorations, injecting some elegance.
Larger Batteries with Quicker Charging
Huawei has been paying attention to customers wanting increased battery life. In the baseline Pura 80, the phone receives a 5600mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Pro, Pro+, and Ultra models up the ante with 5700mAh batteries, 100W wire and 80W wireless charging, as well as 18W reverse charging support.
Improved Camera Technology Throughout the Series
Camera technology is the star of the show again. The standard Pura 80 has a 50MP primary sensor with variable aperture and a 12MP periscope telephoto. Pro and Pro+ add a 1-inch 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP telephoto camera, a 40MP ultra-wide, and a multispectral sensor. The Ultra model adds dual-focal-length periscope zoom and 16EV dynamic range.
Smarter Satellite Messaging and AI Features
Huawei also moves ahead with satellite technology. Pura 80 and Pro devices offer two-way Beidou messaging, with the Pro+ thrown in for added reliability with Tiantong support. HarmonyOS 5.1 is the operating system of choice, and new AI features such as anti-peeping notification, AI Teleportation, and Ark Engine optimization enhance the experience.
Conclusion: Huawei Doubles Down on Imaging Innovation
Despite uncertain global availability, the Pura 80 series proves Huawei’s commitment to smartphone photography. Whether it’s the big batteries or advanced zoom tech, these phones set a new bar for mobile imaging in 2025.
