Split Models with Different Chipset Testing
The Honor GT 2 series will allegedly feature two options: a regular model and a Pro version. The stock GT 2 is in A/B testing now with two chipsets. One is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8750), and the other is an unannounced but newer Snapdragon chip, the SM8845. Both chipsets offer flagship performance but with a slightly different focus on processing and power efficiency.
SM8845 Chipset May Drive More Flagships
Leaked information on the SM8845 chipset indicates that it is based on TSMC’s N3P 3nm process and has Qualcomm’s in-house Oryon CPU. It has 2 prime cores and 6 performance cores, providing a good full-core setup for multitasking and performance. While it is slightly lower in power than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it remains premium-grade. What’s more interesting is that other flagships, such as the Redmi K90, supposedly employ this same processor.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Pro Model
The Honor GT 2 Pro is set to be equipped with the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset (SM8850), the next-gen flagship SoC from Qualcomm. The chip is rumored to launch in September, providing a performance upgrade over its predecessors. Its use in the GT 2 Pro supports Honor’s interest in challenging premium-level devices at the top.
Flat 1.5K OLED Display with Premium Touches
Both GT 2 and GT 2 Pro will come with a 6.7-inch flat LTPS OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a minor 2.5D curve. A metal frame provides sturdiness and sophistication to the design. Interestingly, the Pro model may come with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which will be the first in GT series to provide this next-generation biometric technology.
Battery Expectations Remain High
Honor is likely to continue its large battery approach in 2025. The last GT Pro had a huge 7,200mAh battery, and this year’s Pro version will likely match or surpass that. Paired with power-efficient 3nm chipsets, the new GT 2 series may provide excellent battery life, making it an excellent option for heavy users.
