Galaxy S25 Edge: Samsung may have a big shake-up in its Galaxy S-series portfolio next year. A latest report indicates the company may phase out one of its best-selling versions for a thinner, more slimmer model. This follows as Samsung prepares for the international reaction to its new smartphone, and its decision will apparently be heavily influenced by how that phone fares in the market.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge Could Replace Galaxy S26+
Samsung is said to be contemplating swapping out the Galaxy S26+ with a latest model known as the Galaxy S26 Edge in its future flagship series. This is said to be an attempt at simplifying its high-end range. The choice will apparently depend on market reaction to the new Galaxy S25 Edge, which only recently rolled out earlier this week. If the S25 Edge works well, the Plus model could be discontinued in favor of the Edge model next year.
Samsung has already started working on the Galaxy S26 series under the codename “NPA” and is also said to be developing four different OLED panel types for this series, a Korean publication states. The report further mentions that Samsung aims to ship 37.7 million units of the Galaxy S25 series. Of these, only 6.7 million units are anticipated to be sold of the Galaxy S25+, with the Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra projected to hit 13.6 million and 17.4 million units respectively.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Specifications and Availability
The Galaxy S25 Edge, which may shape the future of Galaxy S-series design, is now up for pre-order in India. It is available at Rs.1,09,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The phone has a 6.7-inch Quad-HD+ Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Driven by a dedicated Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, the phone features 12GB RAM and a maximum of 512GB storage. The Galaxy S25 Edge has Android 15 based One UI 7 operating system and sports a dual rear camera setup, which consists of a 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. It features a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies.
Samsung’s Strategic Shift in Premium Lineup
This rumored change from a Plus to an Edge model in the Galaxy S26 lineup reflects Samsung’s desire to introduce an advanced design path. The S25 Edge’s thinner build could be the signature characteristic of the future flagship series. If the market reception is up to expectations, this could result in the discontinuation of the Plus model altogether in the future series.
Market Response Will Shape Samsung’s 2026 Lineup
Samsung’s move appears to be greatly dependent on the reaction of consumers to the S25 Edge. If the thinner profile and high-end features catch on, Samsung may adopt the Edge model fully as a new addition to the lineup. But if demand is short of expectations, the company may remain with its conventional lineup format, keeping the Plus model.
