Self-KYC for Convenience Activation

To activate the SIM, customers must undertake a self-Aadhaar-based KYC process paperless and instant. Airtel has forced customers to activate the SIM within 15 days of delivery to continue uninterrupted usage. The process overall has been initiated to minimize latencies, such as an online tutorial video to perform step by step. Subscribers can also benefit from more support by emailing them through the Airtel Thanks app or by calling the respective customer care number.

Change to Airtel Support MNP

This is not restricted to new Airtel customers; existing number portability is also available for customers to shift their number from other telecom operators to Airtel using MNP. Therefore, by doing this, Airtel is seeking to increase its market base and eliminate friction in changing to another network. Whether a new SIM or porting, doorstep delivery with self-service activation makes a huge difference in the user experience.

Available Now in 16 Cities

The Blinkit-based SIM delivery service will begin in 16 Indian cities. These are Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ahmedabad, Surat, Chennai, Bhopal, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Individuals living in these cities can now avoid waiting in long queues before shops and have themselves activated on Airtel in a few clicks and waiting minutes.

Increasing Relevance of Blinkit in Rapid Commerce

This partnership is an extension of Blinkit’s new foray into speedy delivery of high-end electronics, including Apple devices and a limited number of Xiaomi and Nokia handsets. The company has been making speedy strides towards becoming a place for speedy, technology-enabled deliveries. With the Airtel tie-up, Blinkit is now deepening its roots in the telecom delivery space, offering customers speed and reliability.

Final Thoughts

With this strategic tie-up, Airtel and Blinkit are redefining the SIM card delivery and activation playbook. The coming together of quick delivery, self-KYC, and service to new and porting customers could be a game-changer in the consumption of telecom services in India.
