Drishyam 3 Review – To what lengths will an ordinary man go to protect his family? When Director Jeethu Joseph crafted *Drishyam* in 2013, this single premise shook cinema lovers across the entire nation. Then, in 2021, *Drishyam 2* arrived and created a massive sensation on OTT platforms. Now, in 2026, Mohanlal returns once again as Georgekutty in *Drishyam 3*. But does this third installment still possess that same old *Drishyam* magic, or has Georgekutty’s past finally caught up with him this time? Let’s find out in this spoiler-free review!

The story picks up exactly where we last left it. Georgekutty has now become a successful film producer and has even released a movie based on the events that transpired with his family. He is receiving accolades and offers for remakes from all quarters. The police—along with Varun’s mother, Geetha Prabhakar (Asha Sharath)—no longer wish to pursue the case due to a lack of evidence.

The twist arrives when a journalist decides to produce a documentary focusing on Varun’s death and Georgekutty’s family. Suddenly, the dormant case is reopened. Has this journalist stumbled upon something that eluded the police? That constitutes the true suspense of the film.

**Where Did Jeethu Joseph Miss the Mark?**

Jeethu Joseph is renowned for the brilliant twists and “slow-burn thriller” style characteristic of his films. However, of late, a certain predictability has crept into his work—and unfortunately, that very weakness is evident in *Drishyam 3* as well. Over-anticipation of Twists,

The success of the first two films stemmed from the fact that their twists arrived completely out of the blue. However, audiences have now become so savvy that the moment Anju (Georgekutty’s daughter) makes an entry with her fiancé, you instantly realize: “Aha! A twist is definitely coming.”

More Emotional Drama, Less Thriller: Rather than being a mind-bending thriller, this film feels much more like an emotional drama. It primarily focuses on the same fears and regrets within Georgekutty’s family—themes we have already witnessed in previous installments.

The first half of the film is incredibly slow-paced, and the narrative barely moves forward. The film picks up a little momentum just before the intermission, but the drama takes over once again in the second half. The film only truly finds its footing a mere 20 minutes before the end credits roll.

Mohanlal’s Acting: The True Soul of the Film
Even if the script has its flaws, one simply cannot find fault with Mohanlal’s performance. He has once again breathed life into the calm yet cunning character of Georgekutty. It is entirely thanks to his presence that you remain glued to the screen for the entire 2 hours and 39 minutes.

Satheesh Kurup’s cinematography is exceptional; he has captured the beautiful landscapes of Kerala in a truly magnificent manner. Anil Johnson’s background score does full justice to the film’s mood and plays a crucial role in sustaining the suspense.

Social media and various reports have frequently been rife with rumors regarding the storyline and release of *Drishyam 3*. The reality, however, is that Jeethu Joseph has endeavored to provide a definitive closure to *Drishyam 3*—a fitting and natural conclusion to a franchise that began its journey back in 2013. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 39 minutes and is based entirely on an original script, rather than on any fan theories.

*Drishyam 3* is not a bad film, but it fails to live up to the high benchmarks set by *Drishyam* and *Drishyam 2*. The filmmakers have attempted to play it safe, capitalizing on Georgekutty’s popularity. If you are a fan of Mohanlal and wish to see how this story concludes, this film is certainly worth a one-time watch.
