Recently, Bachchan family’s daughter-in-law and famous actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. She has appealed to the court that her name, voice, and pictures should not be used without her permission.
Actually, some people are misusing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create AI-generated pictures of Aishwarya. They are using these pictures to sell coffee mugs, T-shirts and many commercial things. Apart from this, her pictures are also being used in pornographic videos by morphing them in a wrong way, which is very shameful.
What is ‘Personality Rights’?
‘Personality Rights’ means the legal right of any person to use his name, identity, and voice. These rights protect any person from misuse of his image or name without permission, especially when it is intended for business or any other wrongdoing.

Aishwarya Rai is not the only one who has spoken out against this problem. Her father-in-law, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, had also filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to stop similar misuse. Apart from him, many other stars like Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor have also approached the court to protect their ‘personality rights’.
The court has taken this matter very seriously and has said that it will take strict action against all those who are doing such illegal work. This move will set an important precedent not only for these stars but also to protect the identity of any person from being misused in the future.
