TET Mandatory Teachers. The Supreme Court has given a historic and important decision for candidates who are dreaming of becoming teachers and are currently working as teachers. From now on, it will be mandatory for any candidate to pass the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) to teach classes 1 to 8. The court has made it clear that if a teacher is already working and has more than five years left in his job, then he will have to pass the TET exam.
This decision of the Supreme Court has created panic among the people associated with the job of a teacher. After this order of the court, the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) has now become mandatory. In case of not passing the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET), the concerned teacher will either have to resign or take compulsory retirement.

However, the Supreme Court has also given relief to those teachers whose service period is now less than five years. Such teachers will not be compulsorily required to give TET, and they will be able to complete their remaining tenure normally.
What will be the effect of the Supreme Court’s decision
This order of the Supreme Court will have a direct impact on lakhs of teachers and candidates across the country. Especially for those teachers who still have a long tenure left, while every new candidate wishing to become a teacher will now have to pass the TET exam first.
Teachers already working who have more than five years left in their service will have to compulsorily pass the exam. However, this decision will not affect those whose service period is less than five years.
NCTE had decided on the qualification
Let us remind you that the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had already said in the year 2020 on a rule that the minimum educational qualification for teaching students from class 1 to 8 across the country would be to pass the TET exam. Its purpose is to increase the quality of education and ensure that teachers teaching in schools meet the basic efficiency and eligibility standards.

Now the Supreme Court has issued an order to strictly implement this rule. This simply means that in the states where TET was not mandatory earlier, TET will now be mandatory there too.
