JEE Main 2026. The registration process for JEE Main 2026, the country’s largest engineering entrance exam, has begun. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has activated the online application link at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students seeking admission to B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch, or B. Planning courses can be applied until November 27, 2025.

This time, the NTA has changed the exam dates—Session 1 exams will be held from January 21 to 30, 2026, while Session 2 exams will now be held from April 2 to 9, 2026. Previously, the dates for Session 2 were scheduled for April 1 to 10.
1. Update your Aadhaar card before applying
The NTA has advised candidates to update their Aadhaar card, UDID, and category certificate before applying. Sometimes, errors in the name or date of birth in these documents lead to application errors. However, the NTA has also clarified that Aadhaar card updates are not related to exam city allotment.
2. Exam Dates
Session 1: January 21 to 30, 2026
Session 2: April 2 to 9, 2026
Results for both sessions will be declared by February 12 and April 20, 2026, respectively.
3. Eligibility Criteria
There is no age limit for this exam.
Students who have passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 or are scheduled to appear for the board exams in 2026 can apply.
Candidates must have Physics and Maths along with one of the subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Technical Vocational.
4. Application Fee
- General Category (UR): ₹1000
- OBC/EWS: ₹900
- Female Candidates (UR/OBC/EWS): ₹800
- SC/ST/PwD/Transgender: ₹500 Fee payment can be made online only.
5. Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
JEE Main Paper-1 (B.Tech/B.E.) will have a total of 75 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Math.
+4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer, and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
Paper-2 (B.Arch. and B.Planning) will be conducted separately.

- Click on the “JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Registration” link.
- Fill in the required information and register.
- Upload your photo and signature.
- Pay the fees and submit your application.
- Download the confirmation page.
7. How to get into IITs
Students’ best NTA scores from both sessions will be considered, and rankings will be determined based on that.
The top 250,000 candidates will be allowed to appear in JEE Advanced 2026.
Admission to IITs will be available only to those who have secured at least 75% marks in 12th grade or are in the top 20th percentile of the board exams.
