GATE 2026 Registration: If you want to apply for the GATE exam of 2026, then there is a big update for you. Now applications for GATE will start from 28 August, and applications can be made till 28 September. Lakhs of candidates apply for this exam, which is conducted once a year. For the candidates applying for GATE 2026, it is worth noting that IIT Guwahati has extended the registration date, so now you can fill the form till 28 September 2025 without any late fee. If there is a delay, then you will get a chance to apply with a late fee from 29 September to 9 October 2025.

GATE 2026 Exam date: Know the new schedule

This time, the GATE exam is being conducted by IIT Guwahati, due to which a new schedule has also been released.

While the GATE 2026 exam will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026, it will be conducted in two shifts.

The first shift will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the second shift will run from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The admit card for the exam can be downloaded from 2 January 2026.

Let us tell you that the result will be declared on 19 March 2026, and the scorecard will be available to download from 27 March to 31 May 2026

GATE 2026 exam fees

For women, SC, ST and Divyang categories, regular 1,000 rupees, with a late fee of 1,500 rupees. For all other categories, a regular 2,000 rupees, with a late fee of 2,500 rupees, will have to be paid, so you can deposit the same fee online with debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI.

How to register for GATE 2026

  • First of all go to the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
  • Register by entering your name, email ID and mobile number.
  • After registration, you will get a login ID and a password
  • Login and select personal details, name, date of birth, address, educational qualification and exam centre.
  • Upload necessary documents like passport-size photo, signature and other necessary certificates.
  • Pay the fee by making an online payment.
  • Submit the form after double-checking all the information.
  • Take a printout  for future reference
