What is GATE?

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level examination conducted for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering, architecture and science. This exam is conducted alternately by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology. The GATE exam 2025 is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.

Important Dates of GATE 2026

The application process for GATE 2026 has started; however, candidates can note down the important dates for their convenience. Here are the details

  • Application Process Starts: 28 August 2025
  • Last Date of Application: 28 September 2025
  • Last Date of Extended Application Window:- 9 October 2025 (with late fee)
  • Exam Dates:- 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026

Please note that the exam will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) in two shifts – 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

  • First of all, register by entering your name, email ID and mobile number.
  • You will get a login ID and password.
  • After registration, log in and open the application form.
  • Fill in personal information (name, date of birth, address), educational qualification, choice of examination centre, etc.
  • Upload passport-size photo, signature and required certificates.
  • Deposit the application fee through an online medium.
  • Check all the information and apply.
